Lexington, Ky. —- May 19, 2017 —-  The United States Hunter Jumper Association has opened 3-foot sections at the Emerging Athletes Program Regional Training Sessions in Texas and Massachusetts. Additionally based on member feedback, the newly added 3-foot sections will be open to riders of all ages, including adults.

“We are pleased to be able to extend these 3-foot sections to all members regardless of age,” said Sally Ike, chair of the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program Committee. “We hope the combination of stable management and mounted instruction offered at a 3-foot level will encourage the continued development of great horsemen and women in our sport and excite those who may be eligible for the EAP in the future.”

Clinician Kip Rosenthal and stable management expert Nanci Snyder will lead the regional training session at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, June 26-30. Clinician Julie Winkel and stable management expert Colleen Reed will lead the session at Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center in South Hadley, Massachusetts, July 5-9.

Interested riders must be current USHJA members in good standing and must complete and return the  application, $50 application fee and $550 program fee to USHJA. Space is limited and riders who submit the application and associated fees will be admitted to the sessions on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.

Riders participating in a 3-foot section will have full access to all of the educational sessions during the regional training session but are not eligible for the National Training Session.

During the intensive five-day Regional Training Sessions, riders have the opportunity to work with top riding clinicians and some of the country’s leading stable managers, where instruction focuses on flatwork, gymnastics, related distances and course work, as well as an intensive stable-management curriculum that incorporates proper care and grooming, horsemanship skills, and barn management. Riders provide their own horses for the Regional Training Session and are expected to provide all necessary care themselves.

Riders are responsible for coordinating stall reservations, bedding, hay, feed, etc., and associated fees with the host facility. Stall fees are separate from the EAP Regional Training Session fee and are to be paid directly to the Regional Host Facility.

Applications for all other 2017 USHJA Emerging Athletes Program Regional Training Sessions are closed. For more information about EAP and to apply for a 3-foot section,  visit www.ushja.org/EAP .
