Nearly $2 Million in Prize Money

Mill Spring, NC – April 30, 2017 – Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) has released the 2017 Summer Series Prize List, which is now available for viewing at www.tryon.com. The eight-week series will begin on Wednesday, May 31, and continue through Sunday, July 23, featuring hunter, jumper, and equitation competition, offering almost $2,000,000 in prize money throughout the duration of the summer.

The first week of the 2017 Tryon Summer Series will begin on Wednesday, May 31, and continue through Sunday, Tryon International Equestrian Center Announces 2017 Tryon Summer Series Dates Offering Nearly $2 Million in Prize MoneyJune 4, with Tryon Summer I, offering USEF “AA” hunter competition, including a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and USEF Level 6 jumper opportunities, as well as the first FEI CSI 3* of the year. The CSI 3* will feature a $35,000 1.45m Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake, $35,000 1.50m Tryon Challenge, and highlight a $130,000 Asheville/Greenville BMW Centers’ Grand Prix CSI 3*. The week will also offer a $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Power and Speed alongside a $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Classic. A $20,000 Under 25 Jumper Prix will take to the International Derby Field on Sunday, June 4.

Tryon Summer II (June 7-11) is set to welcome the biggest week of the 2017 Tryon Summer Series, hosting an FEI CSI 4* and USEF “AA” hunter competition, as well as presenting the historic Tryon Riding & Hunt Club (TRHC) week. A $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby will take to the International Derby Field on Friday, June 9. The competition will begin with a $35,000 1.45m Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake ahead of a $35,000 1.50m Tryon Challenge to kick-off FEI classes. A $35,000 Horseware® Ireland1.45 Classic will take place on Friday, June 9, before the $216,000 Horseware® Ireland Grand Prix CSI 4* for the Governor’s Cup on Saturday, June 10. The week will conclude with a $35,000 1.45m Horseware® Ireland Speed Stakes on Sunday, June 11.

Tryon Summer III (June 14-18) welcomes USEF “B” rated hunter competition back to the venue, alongside USEF Level 3 competition. A $5,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake will precede a $25,000 Grand Prix. Hunter competitors will have the opportunity to contest a $2,500 USHJA National Derby.

Tryon Summer IV (June 21-25) offers hunter and jumper competition, featuring USEF “B” rated hunter classes, including a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, $1,000 Green Hunter Incentive and USEF Level 3 jumper opportunities. A $5,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake will bet set in the George H. Morris Arena before a $25,000 Grand Prix.

Competition will continue with Tryon Summer V (June 28-July 2) hosting USEF “AA” hunter competition and USEF Level 6 jumper classes. Tryon Summer V will bring FEI competition back to the venue, featuring an FEI CSI 2*. A $35,000 1.45m Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake will begin the week before welcoming a $35,000 1.45m Horseware® Ireland Speed Stakes. An $86,000 Adequan® Grand Prix CSI 2* is set to highlight the week of competition. A $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Power and Speed and $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Classic will accompany FEI show jumping competition. A $20,000 Under 25 Jumper Prix will take to the International Derby Field on Sunday, July 2.

Tryon International Equestrian Center Announces 2017 Tryon Summer Series Dates Offering Nearly $2 Million in Prize Money

The USHJA Foundation Pony Spectacular will be hosted at TIEC during Tryon Summer V, offerng a $10,000 USHJA Pony Hunter Derby and family-fun activities!Tryon Summer V will also feature the inaugural USHJA Foundation Pony Spectacular, offering pony riders the opportunity to prepare and practice in a large, competitive atmosphere before USEF Pony Finals later in the summer. A $10,000 Pony Hunter Derby will highlight competition in the George H. Morris Arena on Friday, June 30, ahead of a full line-up of Pony Classics hosted in the main arena on Saturday, July 1, and a $1,000 Pony Jumper Classic on Sunday, July 2. An array of family friendly activities and entertainment, including a Pool Pizza Party and Pajama Movie Night, will be incorporated into the event, providing competitors and their families a weeklong getaway focused on pony competition!

The series then moves to Tryon Summer VI (July 5-9), which is set to host USEF “AA” competition for hunter competitors, featuring a $15,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. USEF Level 6 opportunities for show jumping exhibitors will run in conjunction with the second FEI CSI 3* of the season. A $35,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake and $35,000 1.50m Tryon Challenge will set the tone for the week, ahead of a $130,000 Ariat® Grand Prix CSI 3* on Saturday, July 8. The $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Power and Speed and $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Classic will be hosted with FEI competition.Tryon Summer VII (July 12-16) will welcome USEF “B” hunter competition alongside Level 6 jumper opportunities in the last TRHC week of summer, which will operate simultaneously with the final week of FEI competition of the series. An FEI CSI 2* will conclude international competition for the 2017 Tryon Summer Series, featuring a $35,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake, $35,000 1.45m Horseware® Ireland Speed Stake ahead of the $86,000 Grand Prix CSI 2*. The week will also host the final opportunity to contest the $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Power and Speed and $6,000 1.40m Nutrena® Classic. A $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby and $5,000 Green Hunter Incentive will be offered to hunter competitors, while a $10,000 Child/Adult Jumper Classic will take place in George H. Morris Arena on Saturday, July 15.

The 2017 Tryon Summer Series will conclude with a week of national hunter and jumper competition during Tryon Summer VIII (July 19-23) hosting USEF “B” hunter classes and Level 6 jumper opportunities. A $25,000 Suncast® Commercial Welcome Stake will take place ahead of the $50,000 Grand Prix on Saturday, July 22. A $25,000 Sunday Classic will run in the George H. Morris Arena on Sunday, July 23. A $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and $1,000 Green Hunter Incentive will highlight hunter classes during the week.

The popular “Saturday Night Lights” Series, offering free family entertainment and fun on Saturday evenings during Grand Prix competition, will commence on Saturday, May 5, and continue through the final grand prix of the 2017 Tryon Summer Series on July 22. Carousel rides; face painting, and an array of live entertainers surround Legends Plaza during the evening.

More than nine on-site restaurants offer a welcomed addition to the venue’s expanding amenities. Roger’s Diner, Legends Grille, Campagna, Blue Ginger Sushi, and The General Store, are open year round, while Siesta Cantina, Silo Bar, Mane Stream Coffee, Tryon Cafe and The General Store are open to spectators and competitors throughout the competition season.
